My name is Julka Djokic and I am continuing to work with this cohort, and am Year 10 Year Adviser for 2023. My role is to assist the students of Year 10 with all aspects of their wellbeing and its impacts on their learning. I work closely with the school Welfare team and the student's classroom teachers. I am the first point of contact for parents/guardians in relation to any issues regarding your son's/ward's wellbeing at East Hills Boys High School.
Year 10 is a critical year for establishing the study habits that will lead to success in senior years. It is also a life-changing time in the development of adolescents as they mature to become young adults. The staff at EHBHS are committed to supporting their students so they are able to maintain motivation and a positive outlook on their education and development.
I have had the pleasure of working with Year 10 over the past 3 years, and have seen them transition from unsure boys in Year 7 to the amazing, capable and self-possessed young men they have become in Year 10. I have been impressed over the last 2 years in particular, by their resilience, commitment to learning, ability to move on with their lives and their friendships with the boys in their year group.
And now, onto Year 10! Students in Year 10 will study English, Maths, Science, PD/H/PE, History, and Geography. They are now in their second year of their elective subjects selected in Year 9 and are developing an in-depth understanding of these subject areas. In addition to these subjects, Year 10 students will also be benefitting from Berry Street, Careers and Auto Shed lessons each fortnight.
As everyone works towards attaining their ROSA, Year 10 students are thinking about and planning for their subject selections for Year 11 Preliminary and Year 12 HSC. Students receive an information book that describes all of the subjects on offer at East Hills Boys High School, prior to their selection of senior subjects.
During 2023, our Year 10 students will have many opportunities to be involved in leadership and representative roles and to participate in extra-curricular activities in a wide range of areas.
I will be passing on important information and documents throughout the year however, please do not hesitate to contact me with any further concerns.
I can be contacted by either email on julka.djokic@det.nsw.edu.au or by phoning the school on 9773 7806.
Students can find me in the English staffroom in S Block.
