Fitness (Skills)
Exercise involves engaging in physical activity and increasing the heart rate beyond resting levels. Regular physical activity shows immediate and long-term health benefits and is an important part of preserving physical and mental health. Additionally, taking part in exercise of any intensity every day is essential for preventing a range of diseases and other health issues. Fitness studies aims to provide students with an understanding of the benefits of physical fitness and the knowledge to maintain good health to improve their overall quality of life.
Fitness studies introduces students to the principles and practices of fitness and training. Throughout the course of Fitness students will develop:
- knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of resistance training and participation in fitness activities
- knowledge and understanding of a range of conditioning training methods
- the ability to analyse, evaluate and reflect upon personal fitness goals
