Community Access runs fortnightly on Friday Week B and targets a variety of goals such as independently planning a trip using public transport, including management of an OPAL card; reading from a shopping list; following a budget; ordering lunch; socialising over a meal and navigating your local community.
This program explores a variety of experiences for students in an engaging manner, enabling students to engage with meaningful learning in a real-life situation.
In the past, students have:
- Visited Star Wars Exhibition at Powerhouse Museum
- Travelled by train and ferry to Watson Bay Doyle's restaraunt
- Following a budget to shop at Coles and IGA
- Travel to Hurstville for a sit down Chinese Yum Cha lunch
- Travelled to Zone Bowling and tallied their final scores
- Visiting Variety Livvy's Place Sensory Garden at Bankstown
- Following a timetable to travel via train to the cinemas, buy tickets and popcorn, and watch a film
- Mother's Day gift shopping at Bondi Junction
- Kitchen tour at Krispy Kreme, Liverpool
