Our students have an opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills in other art forms through elective subjects including:
- Drama
- Photography and Digital Media
- Visual Arts
- Visual Design
- Music
- Music Production
Stage 5 Elective Music sees students begin to hone their craft on their chosen instrument. They are encouraged to expand their knowledge of musical genres via the various topics studied each term. Building upon what they have learned in years 7 and 8, lessons will see students studying more complex music notation ideas, understanding the “why” behind harmonic decisions and functions, and applying these to their own compositions and performances.
Students will build upon their Stage 4 knowledge of the Concepts of Music, giving them a framework to understand the artform on a deeper level and apply it across all genres.
Music students will have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as the school band and assembly performances. These opportunities will serve to give them experience and confidence in front of their peers, skills which may be transferred to many areas of their lives.
