MAKING OUR SCHOOL A PHONE FREE SPACE

Dear Parents,

We are writing to share exciting news – in 2023 we will be making our school a phone-free space to improve teaching and learning! We will be using a system called Yondr to achieve this goal. I believe that mobile phones have great utility. However, we have also found that learning and social behaviour has improved drastically when students are fully engaged with their teachers and classmates.

The school has made a significant investment in this program which employs a simple, lockable pouch that stores a mobile phone, which will be provided to every student. Student will secure their phone in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they arrive at school. Students will maintain possession of their phones and will not use them until their pouches are opened at the end of the school day. Students are required to bring their Yondr pouch to and from school each day and are responsible for their pouch at all times. Loss of the pouch will result in a $10 replacement fee.

Further information including the parent / student agreements and phone policy will be emailed to families and will also be available on the school webpage and social media.

I encourage you to research the great benefits this will have in ensuring we continue to provide a strong and positive learning environment for your child at East Hills Boys High School. Please use the link below to find out more about the Yondr program.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school directly on 9773 7806.

In an effort to best serve your child, we appreciate your full support in adoption of the Yondr Program at our school.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Karen Savins
